Hello_World is the first sentence that every programmer experiences as a token of success. It's also the name of a series of documentaries about three open programming languages and their communities: Processing, OpenFrameworks, Pure data.
In the last decade, a revolution has happened in the visual and sonorous world that has influenced experts and beginners alike, and has spread over all the creative disciplines. New creative languages have emerged allowing users to easily learn to programme and create digital works on their own. Hello_World aims to show the software culture that has revolutionized the codes of contemporary creation, the communities of creators and professionnals who, collectivelly, have built these open languages, narrowing the gap among concepts like interactivity, generativity, experimentation and real time processing, thus allowing their wide use and access, and the projects developed using these languages.
The project is on-going. After a first series of interviews and the edition of the introductive video, the project is searching funds through the platform of crowdfunding Indiegogo.
Hello_world is a project by Ultra-lab and Raúl Alaejos, co-director of Arduino the documentary. Il will be published under a CC by-sa licence.
